The International Youth Council, together with Zam Zam Foundation and the Zakat Foundation Institute, hosted a capacity-building session on “Volunteer Management: From Recruitment to Retention” in Colombo on November 1st, 2026.

Led by Dr. Amjad Mohamed-Saleem, Assistant Professor of Humanitarian Leadership at the Zakat Foundation Institute, the session brought together participants to reflect on how organizations can better recruit, support and retain volunteers over the long term.

Discussions focused on creating meaningful volunteer experiences, building trust and belonging within teams, and developing practical systems that help volunteers remain motivated and engaged.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Zam Zam Foundation for graciously hosting this event!

As always International Youth Council remains committed to empowering young people and community leaders with the skills needed to lead sustainable, people-centred volunteer initiatives.
