A HISTORIC MOMENT for our planet!

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the 28th of July 2022 that recognised the right to a healthy environment.

The resolution that was adopted was developed over 5 decades. The Stockholm Declaration of 1972 formed the right and was reflected in international agreements, national statutes, and constitutional provisions. In October 2021, the UN Human Rights Council recognized it. With the decision to adopt the resolution, the right is elevated to gain the widespread support it deserves.

The resolution demonstrated that nations support the billions of people who are suffering from the triple planetary crisis brought on by climate change, the extinction of nature and biodiversity, and pollution and waste and will assist people in defending their rights to a secure environment, access to clean water, enough food, and healthy ecosystems.
