Tackling Plastic Pollution in Islamabad capital on World Consumer Rights Day, 2021
To commemorate world consumer rights day, a webinar was organized on the 15th of March under the title ‘Tackling Plastic Pollution’ by the Network for consumer protection with the expectation of freeing the Islamabad capital city from polytene bags and setting an example for other cities to follow. The theme of the campaign for World Consumer Rights Day 2021 is the 7Rs: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair, and Replace. Consumers across the world are acting on each of the 7Rs and demanding that the government and industry assist them. Mr. Sadham D. Zarjahan one of the keynote speakers, emphasized the importance of making small adaptations to reduce plastic use, especially in relation to polythene bags. He continued by pointing out that the ICT administration could follow global best practices if it encouraged people to use less plastic in daily life. He continued by saying that customer feedback and knowledge are crucial components for ensuring the correct application of the guidelines.
